Testimonials

Client:  National Geographic Television

The Situation:
National Geographic needed shots of a nesting Peregrine Falcon for a story on the Mississippi River Corridor.  This shot proved to be quite difficult because the falcons nest on cliff sides.

The Solution:  BodiCo’s Jib Operator rigged the jib at the top of a 450’ cliff. The full 40’ reach was needed to capture the nesting falcon in its natural habitat.  The jib was transported off-road, as far as the vehicles could travel.  The individual pieces were then carried the last quarter mile to reach the final shooting position.  The Jimmy Jib was built at the edge of the cliff to capture this difficult shot, ensuring the safety of the crew and the security of the equipment.

The Result:  Fortunately, the 40' reach of the BodiCo Jimmy Jib made the shot possible.  With the use of a remote-controlled camera the director was able to get one-of-a-kind shots of the nest and the falcons as
                                                                                         they nurtured their young.

Client:
  Tri-Marq Communications

The Situation:  Tri Marq approached BodiCo to help shoot a training video for bus drivers. They knew a camera car was definitely a need, but the choice of an actor who couldn’t drive a bus posed a difficult challenge for both the director and crew. Tri Marq also wanted to eliminate the engine sound from the bus so their audio would be usable.

The Solution:  BodiCo designed and built a one-of-a-kind tow bar to tow the bus behind our camera car.  The bus engine was left off and the actors did not have to worry about controlling the bus and acting at the same time.  Power for lighting was supplied by an on-board generator.

The Result:  With the expert help of BodiCo’s Key Grip, camera car, generator and camera mounts, the director was able to get the shots he needed, use the live audio and create a video that exceeded the expectations of Tri Marq’s client.

The Client:  Endless Productions

The Situation:  Endless Productions wanted to shoot unique, moving low-angle shots of snowmobiles for a Wisconsin tourism campaign. They needed a camera mount on a snowmobile, ostensibly turning it into a one-of-a-kind camera car.

The Solution:  Our Key Grip applied nearly 25 years of experience to create a camera mount that could endure the uneven terrain, rough ride and extreme conditions. BodiCo brought in an oil-dampened, vibration-isolating mount and fabricated the mounting hardware for a snowmobile. This unique rig allowed the camera to ride both low and smooth down the trails.

The Result:  Using this mount allowed the Director of Photography to capture the exact shots he had envisioned. More importantly, the camera and Director of Photography were safe and protected throughout the day of shooting

The Client: The Democratic National Committee

The Situation:  With little notice, a presidential campaign stop in Lacrosse, Wisconsin needed BodiCo to put Obama’s message in the right light. Since BodiCo is the supplier of choice for lighting outdoor political rallies, our light truck and lighting director were able to pull this project together.

The Solution:  BodiCo pulled together the lighting director, crew and large HMI lighting sources, including two 18K Par HMIs needed for the rally. We take pride in our ability to do this for speeches, commercials or large events of all kinds, which is why BodiCo often gets the call when the Democrats or Republicans have a rally.

The Result:  The Democratic National Committee had a great rally with lighting that allowed the crowd to see the candidate, and ensured the news cameras had everything they needed to get their stories.

The Client: Wisconsin Tourism

The Situation: The Director of Photography needed a crane shot going from white-water rapids and waterfalls up to two actors climbing an overlooking bluff for a national tourism commercial. To accomplish this, the BodiCo Jimmy Jib needed to be carried into a remote location and setup on the rocky banks of the river. Proper balance of the Jimmy Jib, secure footings and safety of crew and equipment were obvious concerns.

The Solution:  Our Jib Operator worked with the crew to create the special rigging and planned the logistics of the operation with military precision. The setup – even in this type of location – was handled with extreme efficiency and safety.

The Result:  The successful execution of the Jimmy Jib build and its remote-controlled camera head allowed the DP to get the stunning location shots he needed without risk to his camera, crew or other equipment.

The Client: NFL Films

The Situation:  NFL Films shot the documentary film of a Harley-Davidson ride across America.  For the parade in Milwaukee, Wisconsin NFL Films approached BodiCo to see if there was a way to pair a Steadicam with the sidecar of a motorcycle. The desire was ultra-smooth riding footage of the parade.

The Solution:  BodiCo went right to the source to create the solution by consulting with Garret Brown, the inventor of the Steadicam, to discuss ideas and options for the rig.  BodiCo’s Key Grip designed and built an entire shooting platform on a motorcycle sidecar frame.  The platform included a swivel seat with a specially designed camera mount for the Steadicam. This unique option allowed the operator to shoot in any direction without the strain of having the rig hanging on his body.

The Result:  The BodiCo solution allowed NFL Films to get the shots they needed, it made for a
smooth day of shooting and delivered an unmatched level of safety for the Steadicam Operator, his camera and the individual driving the cycle.
